Week 27  The second installment of the second planking.

The bits we received

And what we did with them

Refer to last week for the majority of the work.  I continued to fix all the starboard planks to the hull.  The instructions suggest using pins, but I as I mentioned last week, masking tape is perfect for the job.  However, make sure that you can see the portholes through the tape as the tape will not come off the paper cleanly.  Not a problem, just trim the tape close to the edges of the planks when you come to remove them, but be sure that you can see the portholes through the tape.

Hot tip of the week

Going back in the build process a bit, but I gather that our Australian friends are behind the UK.

This comes from Mark Kasperski.

When I put the keel together, I noticed that I had a bend in it :-(. I fixed this problem (before I glued the hull plating) by steaming the offending bow section of the keel, and bracing the model straight.  By morning, the keel was straight as a die, and I was a very happy chap!

Thanks Mark
