Week 44  This week The First Class Lounge Roof and some more card parts

The bits we received

And what we did with them

First, the 2 pieces of deck were glued together.  I glued them together with a thin, even smear of white glue over both pieces and stuck them together and left them under a pile of books overnight so they dried nice and flat.  Then they were glued in place on the deck with superglue.  I used superglue as I wanted it to set quickly while I was holding the piece down.  The deck has a slight camber so I couldn't use books or weights to hold it down.  The superglue worked perfectly, but make sure you get it in the right position first time.

Next I test fitted the wooden bulkheads and checked the sizes against the etchings.  I found that the gap at the rear of the deck was too wide, so I cut off 4 thin bits of scrap deck material that were one 'plank' wide.  These were carefully glued in place with white glue.  They don't show up very clearly on the photos so I've marked them with red arrows.

The rest of the parts were OK, but you should check them yourself anyway.  I didn't bother using the card part S18 as this is the wrong size and doesn't serve much purpose with the etchings.  It may be more useful if you're using the card parts, but you will need to check the size against the card decorations.

The remainder of the etchings for this week will be fitted later.
