Week 70  This week we start to construct the lifeboat davits

The bits we received

And what we did with them

These parts simply needed cutting out and bending to shape.  I used a pair of smooth nosed pliers to bend them.

...and another couple of crane jibs.

The ladders are going to have to wait until I've got something else to paint white.

OK- the ladders have been done now.  They were sprayed white while still attached to the fret, then cut free and glued in place with super glue.  These are a bit fiddly to handle as they are so small.  I tried tweezers, but they just pinged off and were likely to be swallowed by the carpet monster.  I finally came up with the idea of using my trusty needle held in a pin vice or suitable craft knife handle.  Put the point through the top rung and let the ladder dangle.  Then add a drop of super glue to the back of the ladder.  Put the point of the needle where you want the top rung to go, and let the ladder slide down the needle.  A quick prod with another needle, or craft knife point will get the ladder in just the right position.  The surface tension of the super glue should hold it in place.

Here are photos of the ladders on the crane pedestals.
